We met about 2 weeks ago. We had our laughs, our questions, our claps, our discussions, and even moments of frustration. Learning new tools and acquiring new knowledge (I know we sometimes don't like to admit it) takes time, practice and vision. I hope you feel you have learned more about differentiating resources in an online environment in the STEM classroom. It is time to reflect, cheer and offer suggestions.
Please share with me what you think went well and what you think can be improved. I welcome suggestions and ideas.
I want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your time, dedication and amazing work. I had showed some of your project templates to colleagues (other staff developers) and they have all commented about the depth of the projects, the seriousness and levels of differentiation. As one colleague commented, wow, usually people just submit a short lesson plan.
Let's stay in touch; we are only an email away.
Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Dorit, when I took this class two weeks ago my objectives were to learn how to enhance the lives of my students through the use of differentiated instructions and thechnology in the classroom. Although the classes were challenging, I knew that I have become more knowlegable. Being able to implement strategies that I have learned in class is an assess. I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with my students and peers come September. Thanks you for your patience, guidance and input, it made a significant difference to us novices. By the way, I would not change the format of the class, maybe a working lunch can be helpful, take care..
ReplyDeleteDorit, this class was so beneficial to me. I think I figured out a way to be able to use the online tools with kindergarten. However, I feel that the online tools would make more of an impact in the older grades. I also think that there should be an extension to this course, the next step. I would defnitely take that too! I had so much fun exploring the tools. Having a general idea of each tool helped me to explore other online tools that we did not discuss without fearing failure. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDear Dorit,
ReplyDeleteI learned a lot. I must admit it was a lot of work. I enjoyed doing the power point. I never thought about making a power point as a group activity. Working in Google Apps in Docs taught me how to let two or more students work on the same power point. I will definitely try that in my classroom. I can’t wait to try some of the fun things like creating photo albums for special occasions. I also can't wait to try out Google Sketch Up for my geometry lesson. It was a pleasure working with you. I’m truly impressed with how much effort you put in this course. I also appreciate the extra help online and on the phone. Thank You, I look forward to working with you in the future.
I can't believe it's over. I learned so much about online tools for instuctional use in the classroom. I thought the class would be hard at first, but in retrospect it was not. It was a lot of work though. It would be nice have a followup course to scaffold onto what we just learned. Also, it would be nice to meet with my colleages to share how we used our new info with our new class.
ReplyDeleteDorit, thank you for sharing and caring. You put a lot of work into this class. Get some rest!
Brenda
ReplyDeleteI learned so much in this course. It was extrememly helpful to be able to do the work online but to also be able to meet face to face if we had any questions. I think the best way to learn is to be able to explore on your own and that is what Dorit allowed us. Once we were able to navigate our way through the various sites we then reconnected and asked all the questions we needed to. It was great learning how to create power point and share documents. This is something I will definitely use in my classroom, especially since I was able to put together an entire lesson using compueters as my differenciatd instruction. I truly enjoyed the class and learned a lot. I look forward to the next class! Thank you!
This class was exactly what I had pictured it was going to be. My biggest fear as a teacher is incorporating technology into the classroom. My students always had the use of computers, to play games or to go on websites like starfall.com etc. However that does not even scratch the surface to what is out there. After taking this course I am much more comfortable integrating technology into my lesson plans and also am excited to see the benefits for collaboration with my colleagues.
ReplyDeleteDorit - I have to say that I signed up for the class because I really wanted to learn what the district wanted when they talk about using differentiated instruction in the classroom, and I learned through this course how much work it involves and what is now expected. The lesson plans once developed will be beneficial for years to come. The usage of differentiated instruction certainly helps to tailor the needs of each individual student. I know for a fact that I will use the template I developed in your class. I have seen through the course how you have to change the direction of your approach in effective lesson planning. The class was very helpful. Thank you. Tracy
ReplyDeleteDorit-
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that the course was alot of work but definatly worthwhile. I learned alot of things about technology that I thought would be part of the course, and a few things about myself that I did not expect to.
Thank you for a great learning experience and I hope that we have a chance to work together again in the near future.
Have a great summer!
John
When I signed up for the class I knew it was going to be alot of work and hard. I say hard because I am not a tech person. But I still wanted to challenge myself and learn how to implement online tools in my classroom. I was right! It was a lot of work and it was challenging. There are no regrets in taking this class. I learned a lot! I look forward to taking more classes with you. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your comments and feedback. It was a pleasure getting to know each and every one of you. I hope to see you in future courses.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Dorit
